Christchurch rocked by earthquake
Dear Valued Customers,
As you may be aware, the Canterbury region was rocked by a magnitude 7.1 earthquake at 4.36am Saturday 04th September 2010.
The quake has caused minor injuries, structural damage and power outages. Several main roads throughout Christchurch have suffered considerable damage, as have a few sewer lines around the City.
PBT are pleased to report that our Christchurch branch escaped this ordeal relatively unscathed, and does not appear to have incurred much damage. Our dedicated staff that were on site at the time of the Earthquake are safe and immediately checked all freight once it was safe to do so.
Unfortunately PBT must report that due to the Earthquake, we were unable to make any Saturday deliveries in Christchurch. Furthermore we believe that further delays are possible in the Canterbury region whilst Christchurch commence repairs to their city. Please rest assured that with PBT your freight is in safe hands, we will be working tirelessly to ensure all delays are kept to a minimum, and we will be operating as normal when work resumes on Monday morning.

South Island Delivery Delays
Albany Mega Centre Repairs May 24th-28th
Memo to: Farmers, Animates, Ezibuy, Shanton, Briscoes.
Hello Everyone,
Unfortunately it has become necessary to excavate an area at the beginning of the service lane from the Fire Sprinkler Control room across to the edge of Briscoes.
The Centre is experiencing water pressure drops in the fire sprinkler system and subsequent investigations lead us to believe there is a leak in the pipe work under the driveway.
This work will limit access to the rear of the premises of Farmers, Animates, Ezibuy and Shanton. .
Subject to final confirmation work is planned to commence on 24th May and should be completed by the 28th of May. During this time access to your loading areas will be affected.
Sorry for the inconvenience but we request that for that week all deliveries which utilise the lane are made before 10.00am; and that you notify your delivery companies accordingly.
It will also affect the area where Briscoes have placed pallets and rubbish skips, so these will need to be relocated for the week concerned.
Thank you,
Kay
PBT Big Rigs
The year 1 students at Kings School in Auckland have been undertaking a project of all things transport, and on Tuesday of last week 2 of the PBT “Big Rigs” visited the school and took the children for a ride showing them what transport was all about.
The boys then completed a competition to draw the best “big rig”, there was 1 winner from each of the 3 classes that competed in this competition, congratulations to Oscar, Deven and Hunter on their awesome Big Rig drawings.
Many thanks to Leif and Earl for driving, and thanks to Mrs Fields for organizing this event.
If you or your school would like to see one of the PBT “Big Rigs” in action, please contact Tim Le Cren on 021-336 252 or email: TimL@pbt.com
